How can you believe in micro-evolution but not macro-evolution?
I’ve only seen creationists reject evolution. Their reason? It contradicts their beliefs.

How can you accept micro-evolution and at the same time reject macro-evolution? Is it a simply statement of "I don’t understand how it’s possible and I refuse to admit I descend from apes simply because I’ve been brainwashed by religious propaganda?"

Micro-evolution is small changes within a species to help increase its chances of survival. Macro-evolution is tons of micro-evolution which eventually leads to a new species originating.

4.6 billion years seems like enough time for life to begin and evolve into what we are today. (After all, humans are nothing but shells to protect and pass on our genes.)

It’s already been demonstrated that lizards of the same species separated by mountains have evolved different skin colors to help camouflage themselves. It’s also been shown that these lizards prefer to mate with lizards of their skin color.

This is how macro-evolution works. The lizards will continue to breed with only the ones most similar to themselves, and eventually will evolve into an entire new species.

Also, doesn’t accepting micro-evolution still contradict many religious beliefs as it shows the creatures created by a perfect being are NOT perfect?

It’s not possible for a ‘perfect’ being to create something that isn’t perfect. To me micro-evolution is a way for creationists to take the easy way out while overwhelmed by the evidence for evolution.

Yet even micro-evolution contradicts their beliefs.

How can you believe in any of those things? Creationists and evolutionists are both misguided.

 As a creationist, I didn’t know that I did.

I guess I’ll add it to the list of things that I didn’t know I believed or didn’t believe as a Christian until someone that I don’t even know on yahoo answers told me.
Aren’t atheists the ones who call Christians illogical? Try to be consisent already!
wispy | Feb 08, 2010

Micro evolution has been demonstrated in the laboratory, so denying it only makes them look obviously stupid, like believing that the sky is orange or something. Of course, not all creationists don’t believe in evolution. Who’s to actually say whether or not the Big Bang wasn’t caused by a conscious entity or entities.
mike19772005 | Feb 08, 2010

dude read up on the subject. even scientists are split on macro-evolution. its not a religious thing, it is because there are so many holes in the timelines and the theory that to accept macro-evolution as the rule would be purely an assumption based on circumstantial evidence. until macro-evolution has been shown to be a fact beyond a shadow of a doubt, scientists will continue to debate it, which is good, because otherwise discoveries would not be made.
Cameron B | Feb 08, 2010

you can believe in evolution over time and still not believe that humans came from apes, think about it how is it possible for something new to come out of nothing the way they think that everything on earth came from ammebas, yes maybe the ammebas could have gathered and created something but…still its hard to believe anything without hard evidence not to mention that when it has been drilled into your mind that evolution isnt true its hard to not find reasons to reject it, its like someone growing up with veggetarions and eating meat for the first time it tastes funny…
yamoussoukro | Feb 08, 2010

 no macro evolution is not

one species as dinosaurs did not evolve into another species as birds

it has never happened and has never been observed

no that is not how macro evolution works with the different skin colors of lizards

no micro evolution does not change the animal
the dna of a animal can only produce what is already in its dna
it can never produce nothing that never existed in its dna before

yes it is possible for a perfect being to create things with inferior materials

your completely wrong consider these examples of evolution not being true

everything is suppose to be based on evidence hence it should not be able to be proved untrue.

dinosaurs evolved into birds by evidence

Tyrannosaurus rex protein proves dinosaurs evolved into birds

depending on breed and care, average 11-20 years
i cant see ur pic but if hes a yorke, shetzue,or terrier he will live for 14 years in human years.
I had a lab/pit bull mix and she lived for 10 years. I loved her so much and it was the hardest thing to see her go. But she’s in a better place now. She had aggressive invasive cancer and that’s what killed her. She would’ve lived longer, but the tumor ruptured and killed her in less than 24 hours. My aunt’s dog is a daschund, and she lived for about 16-17 years! It just depends on their health I think!
The picture didn’t work, but the length of his life has many factors. Large dogs live to be about 10 at best, and smaller dogs more in the 15 year range. It also depends on how healthy he is. Overweight dogs die sooner. I had a Belgian Sheepdog mix that lived to be 14, a GSD mix that lived to be 8, a Beagle that lived to be 14, and my latest two will be 3 next month.
Salty Boy | Nov 20, 2009

A Jack Russel can live for 18 years if you are lucky.
A labrador 12 (usually arthritis gets them)
My little chap only lasted 3 before a car mowed him down.

If you want a pet that lasts a long time get a turtle and move to the Reunion Islands – they will outlive you.
Your link doesn’t work.

My last dog (a German Shepherd mix) lived for 14 years, and I had a Lab who made it to 16 years. Smaller dogs tend to live longer than larger ones. If your dog is only 2, you should have him around for a good while yet. Make sure he gets regular vet care.
daa | Nov 20, 2009

With love and care they can live up to 14 years, provided they don’t get a disease which sometimes cannot be helped.

Too many variables to say. Your link doesn’t work.
Bobbie L | Nov 20, 2009

It all depends on the breed, the food they eat, their enviornment, how active they are, if they have any medical conditions… there are a lot of factors. Same for human lives. There’s no telling which dog will live to be how old. But hopefully your pup lives a long, happy life! I can relate – my dog is definitely my four legged kid.
Apecicle | Nov 20, 2009

the link to the dog’s picture did not work

how long dogs live varies depending on the size, breed, diet, and care they receive

most dogs given a decent diet, regular exercise, and good medical attention when they need it should live 8-10 years at least

one english springer spaniel i had lived 17 years. his internal organs were still in good shape. but he had gone deaf, was developing cataracts in his eyes, and his rear legs could no longer support him when he would relieve himself. putting him down was one of the hardest things i have ever had to do
